  •  Make your way south from Dublin to the Victorian Seaside town of Dún Laoghaire.
  •  Enjoy a welcome dinner where you'll meet fellow participants and your hosts.

Day 2: A Bus Down to in Rathdrum

  • Introduction meeting to go over the itinerary and answer any questions.

  • Follow the Avonmore River through the beautiful Claravale Nature Reserve.
  • Enjoy a picnic on the river bank at the picturesque settlement of Clara with its ancient bridge.
  • Climb through woodlands and optionally ascend Trooperstown Hill.
  • Descend through more forest and cross the Avonmore River on your way into Laragh.

  • Follow in the footsteps of medieval pilgrims to the ancient monastery at Glendalough.
  • Begin the day with a transfer to Ballinagee and hike uphill towards the spectacular Wicklow Gap.
  • Pass historical mining sites and follow the descent of the Glendasan River.
  • Finish with a peaceful walk into the Valley of Glendalough.

**Important Note Abo0ut Your Arrival Date**

You will likely be taking an overnight flight into Dublin. I strongly recommend AT LEAST 1 day to recover from jet-lag before the start of the retreat. Please consider arriving in the Ireland on June 6th or earlier. Dublin is a beautiful city! You may want to take time to explore. If you would like suggestions from Spiral Path Journeys on what to see and do in Dublin, please let us know!

What's Included in the Price (and What's Not)

Accommodations

  • Enjoy a 6-night stay at charming Bed and Breakfasts in each town along our walk through County Wicklow. Most rooms are double occupancy, with a few private rooms available for an extra fee.
  • Room amenities include comfy beds, en-suite bathrooms, complimentary toiletries, and tea/coffee making facilities. Some locations offer beautiful garden views or access to cozy common areas with fireplaces.

Meals

  • All breakfasts and most lunches provided.
  • Special dietary needs can be requested with prior notice but may not be accommodated as the Bed and Breakfasts are located in small Irish villages without easy access to a large variety of foods.

Guided Walks and Activities

  • Daily guided walks exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Ireland, from grand valley views to lush forests.
  • Exclusive access to scenic routes handpicked by experienced local guides.
  • Daily walking meditations focused on self-reflection, creativity, and personal growth, supporting you in finding clarity and peace.

What's NOT Included - Please read carefully

  • Airfare/Transportation to and from Ireland

  • Transportation from Glendalough to your destination of choice at the end of the retreat.
  • Additional transportation (1 day will be covered) to the next village on days you decide not to walk.
  • Any gratuities for BnBs, Drivers, or Restaurants, including any lunches.

These hikes are labeled Gentle but participants should have a moderate fitness level, as we will be walking 5-10 miles daily over varied terrain. If you regularly enjoy walks or hikes, you’ll be well-prepared. If you're not quite there, you have time to train!


A few items include trekking poles, comfortable waterproof boots, weather-appropriate clothing, a reusable water bottle, and a daypack. A detailed packing list will be provided after registration.


There will be attempts to accommodate your dietary restrictions but this is not guaranteed. We will be staying in small villages and often the BnBs do not have access to the variety of food choices you may need.


Booking Fees for the 2-payment option are non-refundable. Cancellations, after the balance has been paid, made up to 90 days before the retreat will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be made for cancellations within 90 days of the retreat start date. Our full cancellation policy can be read at the bottom of this page.


Yes, travel insurance WITH a medical clause is mandatory for all participants. This will ensure coverage for any unforeseen circumstances or emergencies. Highly consider adding "cancellation for any reason" to your policy.


Please consider arriving by June 6th so that you have time to recover from jet lag. You may want extra time to explore Dublin as well!


There will be attempts to accommodate your dietary restrictions but please know this is NOT guaranteed. We will be staying in small villages and often the BnBs do not have access to the variety of food choices you may need.


Participants will stay in cozy, shared lodgings (2 per room) in the beautiful countryside BnBs. Single accommodations may be available for an additional fee; please inquire upon registration.


Bus transfer to our first walking point in Rathdrum is included. You will be responsible of getting yourself to Dún Laoghaire, just south of Dublin for the start of the retreat. Please note that airport transfers are not included.


We will follow a specific and detailed route during our walks. You will be encouraged to spend much of the time walking on your own to get the full benefit of self-reflection. There will be designated free time after our arrival in each village to explore, relax, or enjoy personal reflection. You are welcome to venture out on your own during these periods or rest as you like. We will come together after dinner each night to reflect on the day.

You will have an entire personal day on our final walking day in Glendalough.

Cancelation Policy

Payment of the balance is required 90 days before the start date of the tour. If you cancel your booking before payment of the balance, your booking fee will be forfeited. If you cancel your booking after payment of the balance, but no later than 90 days prior to the start date of the tour, we will refund 50% of the retreat price unless you find a replacement for your spot, in which case we will refund your balance payment but your booking fee will be transferred to your replacement and NONREFUNDABLE.

No refunds will be paid by Spiral Path Journeys if your booking is canceled less than 90 days prior to the start date of the tour. Each group or individual is responsible for all insurances and their own international travel arrangements.

Please keep this in mind when shopping for travel insurance. You may want to look for a policy that includes a "cancel for any reason" plan.


We reserve the right to cancel the retreat for any reason. This would only happen in exceptional circumstances resulting in us not being able to offer the retreat as advertised, or if the minimum number of participants to run the retreat is not met, or in case of Force Majeure.

Should this happen, we will notify you as soon as we have knowledge of the cancellation and you will receive a refund, or you may put the full amount you have paid us for the Solviture Ambulando 2025 Walking Retreat towards any rescheduled retreat with Spiral Path Journeys.

 

Spiral Path Journeys is not responsible for your expenses incurred in preparation for any canceled retreat, such as airline tickets, loss of work, and/or other costs associated with preparing for your trip.
